Nasu no Karasuyama is at the end of the line on the Karasuyama line, a 50 minute train ride out of Utsunomiya. It is most famous for its summer outdoor kabuki play performance by local children featuring immense backdrops crafted out of the locally produced paper (for daytrip planners, sorry, the only performances are held in the last weekend of July).
The Fukuda paperworks are about 2 kilometers out of town of Nasu no Karasuyama. You can make your own paper there or buy it in town at the Washi Kaikan.
