Karn Evil 9, part 2

Welcome back my friends to the the show that never ends:

Embattled farm minister Endo to quit
The Yomiuri Shimbun

Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Takehiko Endo has decided to resign from his post over subsidies illegally received by a farmers mutual aid association headed by the minister, sources said Sunday.

On Monday morning, Endo will meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Prime Minister's Office to submit a letter of resignation to take responsibility. Abe will accept it, according to the sources...

Hmmmm...what is the lesson we should take away from this farce?

Accountancy and primary industries do not mix?

Friends don't let friends become MAFF Minister?

Endō only took the job because he knew he would only be doing it for a week?

Clearly, the thought of actually having to "do" politics--building coalitions across party lines so that meaningful legislation may pass--has focused the better minds in the LDP on cutting out infected matter with brutality and speed.

Fat lot of good that two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives is doing the coalition...and interesting the role the Komeitō seems to have played in expediting Endō's departure. A bit ticked off for losing seats in the July election are they?

In other news, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Sakamoto Yukiko will also be handing in her resignation for financial misdeeds committed by political staff.
