I used to live around the corner. Ikeda was widely known as having some of the best public facilities in Japan at the same time as it had the worst bank balance. According to my friends, even the cup ramen museum was paid for by the municipal government.
In case it isn't obvious already, I really, really like ramen in all its forms (I have the waistline to prove it), and I really enjoyed the museum. This museum, in fact, has made my short-list of things to do when foreign friends come by.
