My family name, however, is pronounced "Chew-check." You can find us primarily in Slovenia and Croatia.

Thanks for the pronunciation tip. I had been mentally calling you Michael KOO-check. Why I chose to ascribe different pronunciations to the 'c' sound can only be left to the vagaries of English, so trained are English speakers to expect identical letters to be pronounced differently.
Thanks for the great blogs, as always. Disenfranchised here, but it won't do bury my head in the sand - the picture is getting uglier by the day. Tell us the Upper House election won't be a runaway victory for the LDP, please... (wishful thinking, I know)
