Really, seriously, do you think there exists any person - in Japan or outside, in the DPJ, LDP or other party - able to be an effective prime minister and stay in the job for an entire election cycle? <br /><br />I do not. It doesn't much matter who succeeds Kan; they will inevitably fail. It doesn't much matter which party or coalition of parties come after the DPJ; they will fail. Japan has been shuffling suits around for the past dozen years with no results to show for it.
